Build is not the finish line
A system that's been shipped but never run in anger is a system you don't yet understand. The interesting failures show up in week six, not on launch day. We stay through that — managed services, SRE, ongoing iteration — because the team that built it is the team best placed to keep it healthy.
Running it with you also keeps us honest about the build. When you have to live with the decisions, you make better ones. We operate the system for as long as it's useful for us to — and we're clear about when it's time to hand the keys over.
